David Harris, Ph.D.

  • Director of Research
  • Board Member

David Harris holds an MS in psychology and a PhD in neurophysiology. He has over thirty years experience as Director of Research and Professor of Biology, Psychology, Communicative Disorders, Otolaryngology, Anatomy, Surgery, Oral Biology, and Dentistry at various medical and dental schools, including Northwestern University, University of Illinois Medical Center and UCSF.

He recently left his position as Senior Research Fellow in Otolaryngology at the University of Washington, Seattle, to work full time at PathoLase. Dr Harris has expertise in neuroscience, photomedicine and photobiology with over 150 publications in 12 medical specialties. He has chaired 28 Medical/Scientific Conferences and Sessions, and organized over 100 CME training courses for physicians.

Since 1980 Dr Harris has been Director of Bio-Medical Consultants & Associates, Inc. a contract research organization (CRO). BMC, Inc. assists medical laser and neurological device companies to bring their products to market through basic science and controlled clinical trials. In 2004 he was co-founder of PathoLase, Inc. and is currently Director of Science.

Samuel A. Lewis, Ph.D.

  • Director of Microbiology

Dr. Lewis is the Director of Microbiology at PathoLase where he setup and is running the Microbiology Lab. The Lab is currently working on identifying, diagnosing and treating the leading causes of onychomycosis.

Prior to PathoLase, Dr. Lewis served as the Director of Molecular Biology at Sedia Biosciences (formerly Calypte Biomedical) from December 2007 to February 2011, where he established the company’s molecular-biology/protein-chemistry program that resulted in the establishment of its Life Sciences Division.

Before Calypte, Dr. Lewis worked for ACON Labs (2003-2007) cloning and expressing recombinant proteins from infectious disease pathogens for IVD tests.  From 1993 to 2002, Dr. Lewis worked at NAMRU-3 (a DoD medical research unit based in Cairo) where he set up and ran a molecular biology lab as well as field labs.

Dr. Lewis has cultured more than 70 pathogens including many BSL-3 agents and developed a vast array of diagnostic proteins for those agents. Dr. Lewis has also held positions as a virologist at ImmuCell Corp. (1990-93) and at the USDA Plum Island laboratory (1988-90).

Dr. Lewis received his B.S. from U.C. Davis in Biochemistry and holds a Ph.D. from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Dept of Pharmacology.

John Strisower

  • Chairman and Chief Executive

For about 30 years, John Strisower has been a serial entrepreneur. The half-dozen plus companies founded by John paired state-of-the-art technology, typically semiconductors, computer hardware and software with electronic, electromechanical and laser based technologies to address industry problems and opportunities. During his career, Strisower built successful and innovative solutions to solve challenges in numerous industries including accounting, manufacturing, home IV therapy, casino table game player tracking, grocery retail and wholesale distribution, public safety, power cogeneration, Internet advertising and medical technologies.

Strisower has performed all phases of startup including innovation, creation of IP with numerous patents, copyrights and trademarks, protection of IP as an expert in IP litigation, financing including angel fundraising and institutional venture capital, negotiation of transactions, hiring and leading successful teams and boards, realization of return on investments by shareholders and angel investing and mentoring other startups.

(Founder/CEO/Chairman) from 2006 – present, Strisower founded the company, raised needed capital and built a world-class team of experts from many different disciplines to create a research and development platform to conduct basic science and clinical trials leading to commercialization of medical device technologies and protocols for the treatment and identification of microbial pathogens.  PathoLase has a roadmap and IP for some 30 infections that can ultimately be treated using its medical technology.

(Founder/CEO/Chairman) from 2009 – 2011, Strisower founded PinPointe USA, Inc. to commercialize the FootLaser (developed by PathoLase, Inc.), its global market leading device used to treat nail fungus. PinPointe received the prestigious 2009 Innovation All-Star Award from the New California 100, selected from a field of California’s top 400 high-growth technology companies.  In September 2011 NuvoLase, Inc. acquired all assets and rights to the PinPointe FootLaser and in October 2011 Cynosure, Inc. (NASD: CYNO) announced its acquisition of worldwide exclusive distribution rights of the PinPointe FootLaser from NuvoLase.

As founding CEO of Travidia Inc. (formally AdExpedia) from 1998 – 2006, Strisower employed 200 personnel worldwide, and served hundreds of international newspaper/media companies.  He served on Travidia’s Board of Directors from 1998 through 2009. In November of 2011 Travidia was aquired by a consortium of eight leading media and publishing companies.

As founder & CEO of PRC Gaming Systems from 1993 – 1997, Strisower developed and patented the PitTrak System, for tracking players at casino table games (US Patent #5,809,482) which was acquired by Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc.

As founder & CEO of Precision Resource Company, LLC, Strisower developed applications and systems for numerous industries.  He also developed software and computer networks for Option Care software for billing, nursing visits & drug interaction for hundreds of offices in 44 states.

Strisower was named the CEPCO 2009 Entrepreneur of the Year and has served on the Chico Mayor’s Business Advisory Council, the CSU Chico Entrepreneurship Center Advisory Board and the CEPCO Job Creation Committee and is an active member of Vistage International (the largest CEO membership organization in the world), the Milken Institute Associates and AdvaMed.

Strisower holds a BS degree in Computer Science from CSU Chico, is a certified network engineer and is a private aircraft pilot, with ratings for multi-engine, instrument, land and sea flight.
